🇸🇦 InfraIndex #4: Saudi Arabia Advances Major Logistics and Port Expansion in Dammam

On 24 November 2025, Saudi Global Ports Group (SGP) inaugurated the Terminal 2 berth expansion at King Abdulaziz Port Dammam (KAPD) and broke ground on the new Dammam Integrated Logistics Zone, a 1 million m² development representing up to SAR 1.3 billion (≈ EUR 325 million) in investment. The Terminal 2 upgrade adds 225 metres of quay, allowing two mega-vessels to berth simultaneously and increasing KAPD’s container-handling capacity to 3.8 million TEUs in 2025. The logistics zone will provide warehousing, cold chain, re-export and light manufacturing facilities, and direct connectivity to SGP’s terminals and the Riyadh Dry Port Ecosystem, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 logistics strategy.

This development strengthens the Arabian Gulf’s logistics landscape by elevating Dammam’s role as a regional gateway and improving the reliability of multimodal freight flows across Saudi Arabia’s industrial corridor. Expanded berth capacity enhances vessel turnaround times and reduces emissions per TEU, while the integrated logistics zone supports higher-value cargo consolidation for petrochemicals, automotive, metals, and e-commerce. For investors, it signals long-term confidence in Saudi Arabia’s logistics sector and growing opportunities in port-centric real estate and integrated supply-chain infrastructure.
