Focus
Evidence-based re-assessment of trans-Eurasian logistics and connectivity under post-2022 geopolitical and market conditions. The assignment aimed to reassess freight demand, corridor performance, and strategic investment priorities in response to shifting trade routes and supply chain dynamics.
Scope
The World Bank commissioned InfraEconomy Group to conduct a comprehensive analysis of freight flows and operational constraints along the Middle Corridor. The team modelled current and future traffic using historical data, market surveys, and scenario-based forecasting. The analysis assessed capacity constraints, bottlenecks, and institutional factors, and evaluated alternative corridor management and investment options under different trade and policy scenarios.
Impact
The approved forecasting methodology and analytical results informed the World Bank’s updated assessment of Eurasian connectivity and shaped revised investment priorities for the Middle Corridor, providing a robust analytical basis for future policy dialogue and project preparation.
